P & I Surveys

P&I Surveys are carried out on behalf of P&I Clubs, insurers, and ship interests to investigate incidents involving third-party liabilities and operational risks. The scope of P&I Surveys includes:

Surveys involve fact-finding, evidence collection, document review, and interviews, with reports prepared in a clear, unbiased, and insurer-acceptable format to assist in claim handling and liability assessment.

Pre-Purchase & Condition Surveys

We examine the overall condition of hull, machinery, deck equipment, cargo gear, accommodation, and safety systems. The survey highlights defects, deficiencies, corrosion, damages, and maintenance issues, enabling clients to make informed commercial and technical decisions.

Hull & Machinery Surveys

Hull & Machinery Surveys are conducted to assess the condition, damage, cause of failure, and repair requirements of a vessel’s structure and machinery for insurance, claims, and technical evaluation purposes.

Marine Warranty Surveys

Marine Warranty Surveys are carried out to ensure compliance with marine warranty requirements imposed by insurers.

We review and approve method statements, risk assessments, stability calculations, load-out, transportation, lifting, towing, and installation procedures. Attendance during critical operations ensures risks are minimized and insurer conditions are fully complied with.

On-Hire / Off-Hire Surveys

These surveys document the condition of the vessel and equipment at the time of delivery and redelivery under charter.

We record the condition of hull, machinery, deck equipment, tanks, and accommodation, including fuel quantities and deficiencies, to protect the interests of both owners and charterers and avoid disputes.

Draught / Deadweight Surveys

Draught surveys are conducted to determine the accurate quantity of bulk cargo loaded or discharged.

We calculate displacement based on vessel draught readings, stability data, ballast condition, and seawater density.

Incident Investigations

Incident investigations are performed following collisions, groundings, machinery failures, fires, heavy weather damage, and operational accidents.

We establish the sequence of events, root cause, extent of damage, and contributory factors, supported by photographs, statements, documents, and technical analysis for insurers and legal purposes.

Ultrasonic Hatch Condition Surveys

Ultrasonic testing is carried out to assess the weathertight integrity of hatch covers.

We test hatch panels, coamings, seals, and compression bars to identify leakage paths, ensuring compliance with charter and insurance requirements prior to loading moisture-sensitive cargo.

Bunker Surveys

Bunker surveys verify the quantity and condition of fuel oil supplied or remaining onboard.

We attend during bunkering operations, take draught readings, tank soundings, fuel samples, and verify bunker delivery notes to safeguard owners and charterers against quantity or quality disputes.

Valuations Surveys

Valuation surveys determine the fair market or insured value of vessels, machinery, or marine assets. These surveys are used for insurance placement, financial reporting, sale & purchase negotiations, and legal matters.

Pre-Shipment/Pre-Loading Surveys

We inspect cargo prior to shipment to verify condition, quantity, packaging, marking, and compliance with contractual requirements. This survey helps prevent disputes by establishing cargo condition before loading.

Cargo Damage Surveys

Cargo damage surveys assess nature, cause, and extent of damage to cargo during transit, handling, or storage. We document findings with photographs, evaluate probable causes, estimate loss, and provide insurance-grade reports.

Hold & Tank Cleanliness Surveys

These surveys confirm that cargo holds and tanks are clean, dry, odor-free, and suitable for the intended cargo. They are commonly required prior to loading grain, steel, coal, liquid cargo, or sensitive commodities.

Lashing Surveys

Lashing surveys ensure cargo is properly secured using suitable lashing materials and methods. We verify adequacy of securing arrangements to minimize shifting, damage, or safety risks during voyage.

Measurement Surveys

Measurement surveys determine cargo quantity based on dimensional measurements, weight calculations, or volume assessment. These surveys are used when weighbridge or terminal figures are unavailable or disputed.

Route Surveys

Route surveys assess the suitability of transport routes for movement of heavy, oversized, or project cargo. We identify restrictions such as bridge clearances, road conditions, turning radii, and safety risks.

Discharge Surveys

We specialize in cargo surveys for export shipments and discharge inspections for shipping lines, insurers, agencies, and P&I Clubs.

We conduct professional, independent surveys to accurately assess cargo condition, quantity, and handling, providing detailed reports with observations, findings, conclusions, and photographic evidence.
